Handpulled Print with Love

The Mesh nasce dall'idea di due giovani padovani, Nicola e Richard, nel settembre 2015. La voglia di spezzare la monotonia del lavoro d'ufficio e di sporcarsi le mani, da il via nel gennaio seguente a un progetto artigianale e creativo legato alla musica e all'arte, il cui obiettivo è quello di riportare la stampa a una delle sue forme più artistiche: la serigrafia. La tecnica dal punto di vista teorico, non è complicata, ma tutto cambia quando si prende in mano la racla e si comincia a premere l'inchiostro per farlo passare sul telaio, imprimendo così il disegno scelto. Nel corso degli anni il processo è rimasto quasi immutato, ma il fascino va al di là del "semplice" processo di stampa; è la versatilità a essere la chiave ed il serigrafo diventa interprete del lavoro dell'artista. La serigrafia riesce ancora oggi a essere espressione artistica e i ragazzi di The Mesh vogliono inserirsi come parte attiva nella creazione di stampe che siano particolari e curate. Lo fanno dedicandosi molto al rapporto con chi si rivolge a loro, creando un legame tra le parti il cui scopo è "creare qualcosa di bello". Dando una rapida occhiata ai lavori svolti, si capisce che si rivolgono principalmente a tatuatori e band; entrambe realtà che amano e di cui fanno parte (per qualche anno hanno anche suonato assieme ed il loro laboratorio era in origine la sala prove). La musica è sicuramente il primo collante tra i due e si può tranquillamente dire che sia la componente essenziale di ogni sessione di stampa. Prima di cominciare è fondamentale la scelta del vinile che farà da colonna sonora e darà il mood giusto alla serata. Quando hanno sistemato il laboratorio, uno ha messo l'amplificatore, l'altro il giradischi e la collezione ha potuto cominciare.

The Mesh was born from the idea of two guys from Padua, Nicola and Richard, in September 2015. The desire to break office work monotony and to get their hands dirty, gives way during the following January to a creative and artisanal project bounded to music and art, whose aim is to restore printing to one of its more artistic forms: silk-screen printing. The technique, from a theoretical point of view, is not complicated, but everything changes when you pick up the squeegee and start to push the ink to make it pass on the frame to imprint the chosen design. Over the years the process has remained almost unchanged, but its appeal goes beyond the “simple” printing process; the key factor is versatility and the serigrapher becomes interpreter of the artist’s work. Silk-screen printing still succeeds in being artistic expression and the guys of The Mesh want to insert themselves as an active part in the creation of printings that are unusual and well-finished. To do that, they devote themselves to the relationship with who calls on them, creating a bond between the sides whose aim is “creating something beautiful”. Taking a quick look at the work they have done, it is clear that it addresses itself mainly to tattooists and bands: both things that they love and of which they are part (for some years they have been playing together and their laboratory was originally a rehearsal room). Music is for sure the glue between them and one can easily say that it is the essential element of every printing session. Before starting a session, the choice of the vinyl that will be the soundtrack and will give the right mood to the night is fundamental. When they arranged the laboratory one of them set the amp, the other one placed the record player and the collection could begin.
